The most beautiful sounding instrument in the world.

It’s quite the statement, I know. But once you listen to people playing this instrument, it’s hard to dispute it. The sound it makes is quite surreal.

The instrument I’m talking about here is the ‘Handpan’

History wise, this instrument is a relatively new, only being invented by the company ‘PANArt’. The Handpan is a subset of the ‘Steelpan.’

Now onto how I stumbled onto the handpan. Through YouTube of course!

If my memory serves me right, my first encounter with the instrument was by the duo “Hang Massive” with this music video. And I immediately fell in love. I looked into more of their music, and just took it all in. The utter bliss that comes with listening to their music is actually pretty hard for me to describe.

But, I forgot about it.

Until a couple of days ago, I was just minding my own business and doing some work whilst thinking about something. But I couldn’t help but try and search for the song that felt so serene. I did not remember the name of the group, but I did remember the name. And I rediscovered Hang Massive’s video.

But this time around, I searched wide, looking for different artists, and that’s when I discovered the perfect combination of instruments, and this video is what prompted me to write about the Handpan.

The thing about the handpan is that people love making it uniquely their own.

These are just a couple of designs I found on Pinterest that showcase the beauty of design on the Handpans. I absolutely adore these designs
